the simple stuff

Wow, I totally forgot I wrote this page to keep updated, and I have not ever updated this for… 6 years! Time to change that!

I have various interests: video games, music, languages, sociology. I probably have a lot of unique circumstances that make me different from 99% of the other people out there, but that 99% have their own circumstances too. I’ve got an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Chinese, although I don’t do anything related to either at the moment. I work as a software consultant. Born and raised in the USA.

I’m not so organized as to have favorite things, but I probably do have a recommended list, colored by recent experiences:

Books: The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander (5 books), the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson (initial trilogy followed by 3 books with a 4th on the way), The Summer Dragon by Todd Lockwood.

Movies: Almost any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie! The Dark Knight, the first Pirates of the Caribbean… I don’t watch as many movies these days, nothing else stands out in my head D:

Music: I’ve mostly stopped listening to western music and stick with anime music, instrumental stuff, and JPop. My favorite band right now is most likely GARNiDELiA. I listen to way too much of Sawano Hiroyuki, though I’ve also been known to binge Kajiura Yuki. My current obsession is Persona 5 music and the Kimi no Na wa. soundtrack.

Video games: Persona 5, Monster Hunter, specifically 4U or X, Trails in the Sky, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Fate/Grand Order

TV shows: Firefly, Westworld, Legion, Orphan Black.

Anime: I will have to reexamine my list, but current favorites are Re:Creators, Haikyu!!, Chihayafuru, Boku no Hero Academia, Sword Art Online, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Re:Zero.

Food: Turnip cake and flan. Not together, obviously. For something more conventional, tuna noodle salad. Paté chaud, pho, seared salmon… Also, unagi (eel) sushi.

Manga:

Some of my favorite manga are: Chihayafuru, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Negima!, D-Frag, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Souma, Silver Spoon, Skip Beat!
