Wow. I love this card. It is a really neat planeswalker.
You hear a lot about elegant design, but I think this is just… slick. I’m mildly amused to see this design space being explored, planeswalkers that don’t exactly have ultimates. I think it’s hard to ignore the blatant synergy between him and Elspeth: Turn 4, Elspeth, token. Turn 5, Gideon, token, maybe destroy something. Turn 6, make a 9/9 flying that takes no damage? Sure, seems good. I’m excited to get this card and explore the myriad possibilities.
Think of a soldier deck with him, Elspeth, Monument, and a Palace Guard. The possibilities!!!
